It's Halloween!
A night of crazy dress-up and lots of yummy treats.
Every Halloween, kids and adults dress up and decorate in all sorts of ways – some as pretty fairies or roaring dinosaurs, and some as scary skeletons or spooky witches. Of course, it’s all pretend. But it’s not so different from the things we see every day in the real world. Everywhere we go plenty of things are good and nice, but many things are awful, scary and hard. These things aren’t pretend, and we can’t avoid them. The world is a mixed up, messed up place and lots of us find that really hard.
But the totally amazing news is that God didn’t leave the world awful, scary and hard. God loves the world and cares about us so much that He sent His son, Jesus, into our world a long time ago so that we can be on God’s team. Jesus died on the cross so we can be one of God’s friends. His body was all wrapped up in cloth and he was buried in a tomb. Sounds kind of Halloween-ish to me! Then God made Jesus alive again. But he was no ghost or zombie! God brought Him completely back to life again, just like He was before, and God put Jesus in charge of the whole world. He’s THE KING OF EVERYTHING!
So if Jesus is our friend … and we’re on His team … and He is the King of everything … well, we don’t have to worry about anything. The King has got it all under control, and He’s promised that one day He’s going to fix it all up! Fix all the mixed up and messed up things.
